Is AI the end of original thought? We asked Chat GPT to write the blog.

Like a lot of businesspeople, we are working through how ChatGPT can be incorporated into our business practices and where it is appropriate to do so.  It resulted in an interesting discussion this morning about the potential loss of original thought.

Do we enjoy a piece of writing, a book, a blog, a podcast if you know that it is written from scratch?  Is it more authentic?

Is it still something to be revered if Chat GPT writes that for you?

So we decided to ask it. And this is what we got.

Can you write me a blog about the impact of Chat GPT on original thought

As an AI language model, I am not capable of forming opinions or generating new ideas beyond what I have been trained on. While I can assist with generating language and providing information, I do not have personal experiences or subjective views on the impact of Chat GPT on original thought. However, I can provide information on the capabilities of language models like myself and how they can be used to augment human creativity and facilitate the exploration of new ideas. Ultimately, the impact of language models on original thought will depend on how they are used and integrated into the creative process.

Can you elaborate on that.

Certainly! Language models like Chat GPT have the potential to assist in the creative process by generating new ideas, providing inspiration, and facilitating the exploration of new concepts. For example, a writer or artist could use a language model to generate prompts, brainstorm ideas, or explore different approaches to a problem.

However, it is important to note that language models are only as effective as the data they are trained on, and they may perpetuate biases or limitations of the training data. Additionally, there is a risk that relying too heavily on language models could stifle original thought and creativity by limiting the exploration of new ideas or perspectives. Therefore, it is important to use language models as a tool rather than a replacement for human creativity and critical thinking.

Ultimately, the impact of language models on original thought will depend on how they are used in conjunction with human creativity and the extent to which they are integrated into the creative process. Used properly, language models have the potential to enhance and augment the creative process, but it is up to us as users to ensure that they are used in a responsible and productive manner.

I am not sure we could have answered that any better ourselves.

Productivity today means doing things better, not doing more things.

A twitter post by Adam Grant on Monday (also my birthday 🎂) about productivity got me thinking about what it really means today.  Adam said that productivity is overrated, and that quality is better than quantity. Not wrong but not entirely right either. Prior to the pandemic churning out as much work as possible in ...

The collapse of Milkrun should start a new conversation around venture capital spend (a female founders view).

Sadly, Milkrun fell over this week.  People have lost their jobs and others have lost their money.  No one feels good about that. There has been a lot written about the business particularly from a funding and investment view.  I thought I would drop in a female founder’s perspective. I am not close enough to ...
